Cross country trip advice?

My dad (60) and I (35m) are planning a road trip for this fall (September - October ish 2021) from NYC to San Francisco and back. We want to hit a few landmarks, but we're not totally set on what we want to do. Would love to see the St. Louis Arch, Grand Canyon, LA, a bit of the PCH, and Mount Rushmore. Maybe Chicago, Tombstone, AZ, and Nashville.

The plan is to drive my awesome 2010 Chrysler T&C with 100k miles. We were thinking of going south first and then swinging north for the way back, taking 5 days going out and 3-4 days back. We're both totally fine with doing 12-15 hours per day in the car. The passenger can lay down in the back for a bit, if needed.

Anyone have advice on route, supplies, etc?
