Cross country Bay Area > Florida, what’s your favorite trick?
Hi, first post here! I’m planning to drive from Bay Area to Sarasota, FL mid March. I’ve done half country road trips before and found that on day 2 I get super bored and uncomfortable, would love to hear everyone’s favorite tricks to make long road trips better!
My plan is to take i5 down south & highway 40, and then 10 after Dallas. Thinking of averaging 8 hours on driving days, drive for 2 days, spend one day exploring, maybe even a small hike (haven’t figured out where yet), drive 2 more days. This will get me about 2/3 of the way. I’m thinking of spending 4 days in Airbnb somewhere around Dallas and work remotely, and then take two day weekend to finish my rod trip in Sarasota.
I’ll have my sleeping bag and a hammock that I use for camping, would be cool to know of good campgrounds to use that instead of camping in the car/ spending $ on motels.
Would also welcome any must see places along the highway 40!
