Planning a road trip is such a fun part of the road trip itself, but I must admit I am so unfamiliar with this part of the country that I could use some help.

I'll be leaving SE Kentucky at the end of March and I have 5 days to make it to Denver, CO. Looking at a map I believe I'll be taking US 60 for a large chunk of it, stopping in Tulsa, and then continuing onto Denver.

What am I looking to do? I'm looking to avoid interstates when and if possible so that I can truly see what this stretch of country is all about. I'm interested in the towns, in the scenery, small hikes or scenic points, even any local oddities worth checking out. I don't mind detours and I don't mind long days in the car.

Anyone who is from this area or has experience traveling around it, I'd appreciate any input.
