Planning a road trip to Colorado in Late May. Have a rough itinerary in mind, needing to know if it’s realistic.
Hello! I am from the Midwest and me and my best friend are going to make the long journey to Colorado in May. There’s lots of different things we would like to see in a short period of time. I have somewhat of an idea in mind but needing to know if it’s realistic.
May 26th- All day driving from St. Louis to Alamosa, CO to get ready to go to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. May 27th- Spend all day at the Sand Dunes National Park, camp close by if weather permits May 28th- Drive to Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, maybe explore Colorado Spring if time allows and then drive to Denver that night May 29th- Explore Denver all day May 30th- Drive to Rocky Mountain National Park, stay all day May 31st- Another day at the Rocky Mountain National Park June 1st- All day driving back home
Is this doable or too overwhelming? Also any tips about the weather around this time and if camping would be a good idea? As well as any suggestions on things we should do/see, also any trails you would recommend in the Rockies. Thanks in advance!
