My Favorite Road Trip Accessory - A Folding Bicycle
So many uses: fun, sightseeing, exercise, errands, back-up transport for breakdowns, touring/camping side excursion, etc. Folders are the size of small suitcases so can be more easily protected/hidden from weather/theft. They qualify as ‘luggage’ on public transport (bus/train/ferry/taxi), and some even as ‘baby strollers’ for wheeling through stores, museums, restaurants, hotels, etc.
If you enjoy visiting densely populated/touristy areas, you know how difficult and/or expensive, parking can get. Bikes allow easier/cheaper(free?) parking away from the crowd zones, and an easy ride in. They cover a massive amount of ground while sightseeing, and often from very pleasant multi-use paths. I always seem to find favorite spots/sights that I’d never find by car or foot due to parking or [walking] distance limitations.
The obvious downsides are the theft worries if you lock-up, and the ball & chain factor if you take with you, but there’s always the option of just leaving it back in the car.
Anyways, just wanted to share the thought.
