Making the best trip out of the worst trip
Soon I will be flying to Phoenix, AZ with my father to settle the estate of my recently passed grandfather. We will be renting an SUV and driving back to Charlotte, NC over the course of several days. Our trip will happen this February.
We are going there to sign paperwork and take home what’s left of his memory in boxes and bags.. and I know it’s going to be hard on my dad. I want to stop at the perfect places - the best vistas, the best food we can get safely (order to go/eat outdoors), or anything we can see/do together to make this sad and solemn journey into one he will remember for how it brought us closer together.
I want to be safe regarding COVID on the way back to Charlotte, so I don’t want to be anywhere packed with people or that would require anything like that. I realize that flying isn’t the safest activity - but it’s the single risk we’re obligated to endure to complete our task.
Anything would be helpful. Thank you all so much.
