Not sure if this is a typical roadtrip or not but debating flying out to Colorado from NJ to drive around the state's National Parks. Traditionally I hate driving so this would be my first trip in the car alot. Was wondering how you strike the right balance between driving point to point and sightseeing?

If I am there 9/10 nights and have ~5 hours of flights there and back is spending 18 hours in the car too much?
