The Journey of a Lifetime - Planning on doing a HUGE road trip from UK to bottom of Singapore for charity, looking for some advice and rough costs
This may sound insane, and if we die trying then at least we died doing what we loved.
My plan is to buy a used camper van (ideally between £10-20k) and stock up on food, drink and petrol before setting off on the journey.
I’ve roughly planned the route and stops, from what I’ve gathered the route goes through 18 countries (England, France, Belgium, Germany, Czechia, Ukraine, Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and finally Singapore) with semi-regular stops.
It will take roughly 281 hours of driving (11.7 days) and the total distance is 18,105km / 11,249mi
Taking in to account fuel, VISA’s, food/drink, spending money and anything else - roughly how much would we need to save/raise to make this goal achievable?
What other costs may incur?
Including stops, how long would this take roughly? I was thinking around the 2-4 months mark.
Additionally, is there any countries/routes that would be advisable against taking? I’ve heard Iran, Pakistan and Myanmar aren’t particularly accommodating to outsiders but this seems like the best route from what I gathered.
Thanks!
