Smooth roads in non-coastal LA/MS/TX for a 30 ft travel trailer
Looking for smoother roads than the roads in west LA/East TX near the coast/I-10/US-190. We will take extra trip time over bumps/wear/tear. We aren't Interstate or die kind of travelers, and are ok with the scenic route (this route is 2.5 hours longer than I-10).
The overall goal is to tenderly take our Airstream back from Florida to Texas. The way there, we avoided I-10 over Atchafalaya Bayou (rhythmic bumps that wear down RV parts), but the roads nearby were still some of the worst we've been on. 190 through Opelousas gave me daymares after (daydream+nightmare?).
Things we'd like to avoid, if some of these roads are known for such things:
- Rhythmic bumps (that's for when the Airstream is still ;-) )
- Tons of potholes
- Soft road edges that are bumpy.
- Harsh rail road crossings.
- Avoid cities with lots of traffic lights (towing in a manual transmission truck is fun, but lights are the drawback...especially one after the other).

Google Maps with scenario B from below: https://goo.gl/maps/iiQniGPTYinf53bp9
Screenshot from RV Parky of both routes (Items 4 & 6 are just waypoints. Others are places we want to stay at). https://www.dropbox.com/s/6p4qtbp2liwna7x/Potential%20Routes%20to%20get%20back%20to%20Austin.png
Route listed out. Important stuff/questions in bold:
Fork A & B are just different ways from Mobile to Poplarville. Prob go with B.
Fork A (more rural, less likely):Out of Mobile: I-165 to Bear Fork Rd - Looks a little hectic, but better than taking 45 or 98 through the city.
US-98 to Lucedale, LA - I've been on 98 in rural Florida. It was great. LA roads though?
LA-26 to Poplarville then Bogalusa. LA State Road quality?? (we aren't avoiding Shreveport, as much as there's a blueberry farm we are going to near Poplarville. Could avoid if the roads are horrible)
Fork B (bit more interstate, might be more likely). Teal Route B on the screenshot.
I-10 to Biloxi, then MS-67/US-49/LA-26 to Poplarville - Save 30 mins, potentially smoother.
Rest of the trip:
LA-10 & LA-62 - through Sheridan, LA to Tylertown, MS. LA and MS State Road quality?
US-98 to Natchez, MS - Seems straight forward. As above, 98 was great in FL. But, LA/MS?
US-425 to US 84 to LA 28 to Alexandria, LA - Looks like these roads are near lots of water. Are the roads soft and bumpy as a result?
I-49 to near Mansfield, LA - Thinking this could be the smoothest part of the trip.
US-84 to US-59 to Nacogdoches - Looks easy. 59 looks like a ring road around Nacogdoches, so not tons of lights.
TX-7 through Crocket, TX to Marquez TX - Potentially some lights in Crocket, but fairly happy if that's the most lights we see in a short time span.
