North AL -> Garden City, KS -> Clifton, CO -> Draper, UT -> West Yellowstone, MT
We will be traveling from Dec 26-January 3. Can I get any advice on the best way to take this trip? I’m thinking we will follow I-57/I-40 to KS. Then take either I-70 through Denver to Clifton, or I-50 through Pueblo to Clifton.
From Clifton, I am thinking we will take I-70 from Clifton to Draper, UT.
I need advice here.. Would it be safer in the snowy conditions to take I-70 until it connects to I-15 and travel north to Draper that way? Or will we be okay to take I-70 all the way North through Spanish Fork and Provo?
We will also be planning to travel to West Yellowstone. Is I-15 safe to travel all the way to West Yellowstone, MT? Or are the road conditions tricky this time of year? We’re southerners, so we don’t ever drive in snow. I am hoping to avoid tricky situations as much as possible this trip, but we are going prepared with brand new tires and probably going to get tire chains as well. Any advice is welcome! We’re prepared to back out if we feel the weather is going to be too harsh to road trip this time of year.
