Crazy Idea - Germany to Hong Kong, is it doable?
In Hong Kong there was a legend in the 90s that a group of wealthy people organized a drive where they would fly into Stuttgart Germany where they would each buy a high end Porsche or Mercedes and drive them back through Germany, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Mainland China to arrive in Hong Kong. They took time sight seeing and the trip took about 1 month in total.
The sweetest part of this story is that because Hong Kong has a steep luxury import tax on new European cars, these people were able to sell their slightly used high end cars in Hong Kong for higher than the price they had paid in Germany. The difference was enough to cover the expenses for their entire trip.

The website above say there are a few permit requirements and the drive would take 100 hours to complete, but otherwise it is doable.
If you plan this carefully, I think it is a doable trip. I'm not sure if you can net a profit on the resale of the car in Hong Kong, last I check the luxury there on cars is still very high. My only concern is driving a Porsche 911 GT3RS or a Mercedes-Maybach through Kazakhstan or Mongolia would attract the wrong attention. Any robbery attempt could be covered by insurance, but it is an attempt on your life via kidnapping that could be a problem. I have never been to either countries so this is a baseless concern. Anyone with experience on this route?
