Help with trip plan - Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Grand Canyon?
Hello guys,
So I had some extra vacation that I had to use before the end of the year. I decided to book a trip to California. It will be my first time there. It will be me and my wife. I will describe a little my plans so far, and I would really appreciate any input/advice
- Friday 10/09 fly to Las Vegas and pick up my rental car in the afternoon. Then get to know Vegas. Mostly nice pictures with my wife I think. Stay in a hotel
- Saturday 10/10 Really considering driving 5 hours to see the Grand Canyon South, spending the afternoon there. In the evening I would return 1 hour back towards Vegas and sleep in Williams for the night.
- Sunday 10/11 Wake up, return the other 3 hours to Vegas, and spend one more night and day there.
- Monday 10/12 Drive 4 hours to Los Angeles. Spend the day
- Tuesday 10/13 Los Angeles
- Wednesday 10/14 Los Angeles
- Thursday 10/15 Drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco through Highway One. Sleep in a smaller town on the way?
- Friday 10/16 Spend the day in San Francisco
- Saturday 10/17 Morning in San Francisco and fly back in the evening.
My biggest question is regarding traveling to the Grand Canyon South. It might be too much driving on such a short span with all the added travel. What you guys think? Grand Canyon West seems to be closed, and apparently the South Rim has better views. I could also go to a natural attraction closer to Vegas, I saw there are a couple options. My other option is to not go and go earlier to Los Angeles, or stay an extra day in Vegas. I calculated something along 1100 miles for the whole week driving including going to the Grand Canyon.
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
