Cross country advice for 2 total newbs
Looking for any and all advice! My husband and I have found ourselves in the awesome position to take a few weeks off work in the next couple weeks and I'd like to travel across our beautiful country. We have no idea how to begin planning something like this. All we know is that we want to make the best use of our time and money as we probably won't get this opportunity again.
We're thinking of renting a minivan for 3 weeks. This seems pricey (just a few quick quotes average about $1,700) as neither of our daily drivers are comfortable for extended periods of time. We were thinking we could sleep in the van (blow up air mattress in the back?!) every other night and hotels otherwise.
We are not hikers or huge nature folks but we love a good view and want to see as many different terrains and experience as much as possible. We'll need to start and end in the Philadelphia, PA area and would really like to make it to the Pacific coast.
Sooooo.....suggestions? Routes? National Parks that we can't miss? Are we fools to attempt such an undertaking with little to no experience? Should we just stay home and finally organize the garage for 3 weeks and save the money??
