Civil Rights Roadtrip
I've got a week off soon and was thinking of doing a roadtrip based around major sites in the Civil Rights movement in the 50s and 60s. I live about an 8 hour drive from Atlanta, which seems like as good a place to start, but was also thinking of doing Selma for the Pettus bridge, sites in Birmingham, etc. I'm not sure how much is open, however - for example, it looks like both the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and the 16th St. Baptist Church are closed for COVID. Can anyone recommend other good sites worth seeing that are open? Or is this a roadtrip better postponed until things are better COVIDwise?
