Roadtrip USA costs
Hi everyone,
Next summer I want to make a roadtrip through the USA.
I'm an engineering student from the Netherlands and I love the USA, been on the East Coast in 2016. Now next summer, I want to make a roadtrip through the West Coast. It will take me about 5 weeks.
What would be a realistic budget for this? I was thinking about 6000 euros. Which amounts to 171 euros a day or about 200 dollars a day.
The states I want to visit are California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas (maybe?), Nevada and Utah. Main attractions being cities like L.A. San Fransisco and the national parks.
Now in my situation there are a few upsides and downsides to this plan. I'm only 20 years old, will be 21 when I make the roadtrip, so hiring a car will be more expensive for me. But luckily I do have a creditcard (engineering internships in the Netherlands are paid and well so mostly). So I could hire a car.
Plusside being my uncle lives in Orange County, L.A. so I can spare expenses by sleeping at his place.
Are there any good alternatives to hiring a car? Or would I be better of paying extra for a car.
I hope to get some advice and tips, thanks in advance!
TL:DR; I'm a Dutch engineering student wanting to make a West Coast roadtrip, would 200 dollars a day be a good budget?
