Need help planning a road trip in America
Ok my friend and I are from Canada and we are wondering if it would be worth it to do a west to east coast road trip or if we should just do the western states. We don't really know what's on the east half of america so we definitely need some suggestions of places to see! We are fairly familiar with the western states but my friend wants to go to red river gorge in kentucky so I thought if we go that far we might as well just keep going? I've seen pictures of myrtle beach that look cool but other than that i'm not really sure what places are worth visiting near the coast. Also wondering if there's any cool stops in the mid-east that might make the drive less boring (I think its mostly flat there? not totally sure lol) Any help would be greatly appreciated! if we don't go east then our trip will probably just loop down to LA or San diego then up through the grand canyon and yellowstone. (We're planning for next summer hopefully the covid situation will be better, we will probably do our trip in 2-3 months if its the long one)
Here's a rough list of places we want to see in order:
Smith Rock, San francisco, Yosemite, Bishop, LA/ SD, Joshua tree, Zion national park, Bryce canyon, Grand Canyon, Route 66 to St louis, red river gorge, ???East coast???, maybe go through washington and chicago on the way back, Devils tower, yellowstone, back to canada
