Seeking Help
To start, I’m a fist time poster. I know you all certainly get your fair share of one off question askers looking for a quick answer, so I apologize, I don’t mean to be that, I’m just stumped.
That out of the way, my situation is this:
Wifey and I had been scheduled to attend a family reunion in NM the weekend of July 12th this year. Scheduled as in we both asked for the time off six months ahead of time. Obviously, and rightly so, because of covid-19, the gathering was canceled. Absolutely the right call, it would have been a gathering of a few hundred, and as baller a time it is, there’s no need or reason to take that unnecessary risk.
However, as Wifey and I already have the time off, we have been hanging on to hope that we could still make a trip from the time off, just the two of us. Especially since she’s never been to the southwest US.
Our plan, if possible, from the 6th to the 14th of July, is to go though Colorado, hitting Denver, Breckenridge, and Cañon City. Then onto Moab Utah for Arches National Park. Finally making it to the Grand Canyon after that, before heading home (Indianapolis IN).
The only thing is, I need some help. I’ve been on the hunt for information for at least a week trying to get a handle on if this is even possible, and if so, how. I’ve been lost in all of it. What types of places can we stay? Can we only camp? Which parks are open? Will such a trip even be allowed? Basically, what are the details I need to know to make this happen, if it can happen.
Thank you to anyone taking the time to read this, let alone offer your advice. I’m truly thankful to live in a world where people have the chance to help one another out.
TL;DR Can my Wife and I pull off a road trip to the Grand Canyon this July, and if so, how?
