Help me plan my trip: Yellowstone RV
Hi,
My wife and I are starting to plan a ~2 week road trip for end of August/early September up to Yellowstone and Grand Teton. We'll be heading to Las Vegas where we will be renting a campervan and we are considering where else we may want to visit to and from NW Wyoming. My wife is a photography buff while I just like to get out into nature and so we like to go to scenic places to explore and marvel at the beauty of nature. That sounds pretty corny but I can't think of a better way to explain the purpose of our trip.
So we'd love to hear peoples thoughts on other places to check out, currently we're thinking of spending a few days exploring Arches, Canyonlands, Capital Reef, and maybe Great Basin. The attached link is our very preliminary itinerary.
We've been to Yellowstone once before and Grand Teton Twice, so we have a decent idea of what we'll want to see in those areas (the geysers/hotsprings, Lamar Valley, Jenny Lake, etc). We'll probably spend at least 3 days in Yellowstone and 1 or 2 in Grand Teton.
Things to note:
- We like to go hiking to take in different views, however we usually don't do much longer than ~5 miles since we do a lot of stopping and physically we just get tired and it becomes less enjoyable.
- We usually need to mix in some days of easy/low physical exertion to keep the "longer" hiking days enjoyable.
- We usually start to get restless after spending 3 or so days in an area which is why we're trying the campervan method to give us flexibility in where/when we stay
Thanks for any advice you may have.
-Kyle
