Advice for drive to CO from NJ, taking I-70
So I’m driving from NJ to CO Springs next week for a two day work related trip, followed by a get away vacation in the mountains with my fiancé next Tuesday. I’m gonna have to do the driving since my rental company only allows myself to drive.
I’ve never driven this much before, but thought it safer over flight travel these days. It’s more of an A to B trip.
I leave next Tuesday at 8am EST and am looking to be in Colorado Springs by 4pm GMT for check in by Wednesday. We are taking I-70 the entire way. About a 25 hour trip without stops.
I’m looking to get most driving out of the way Tuesday, driving for 14-15 or so hours, finding a motel to rest and sleep a couple hours and waking early to do the rest the following day.
I heard I-70 is dreadfully boring. Anything anyone can offer about this route would be helpful. But heres a few questions I have.
-What are the speed limits like? Cops everywhere? Speed traps? We jersians are notorious speed demons and it may be tempting for long stretches of empty road, especially in Kansas.
-How frequent are gas stations in some states? Motels? Rest stops? Should we pack meals or are there quick food places?
-how often should we look to stop? Are there signs of road fatigue to look out for?
-Any general tips and advice for 10-15 hour drives to stay awake and make it a little less dull?
