30+ hour road trip over 5 days with a 6-month old - would you do it?
TL;DR - thinking about a 33-hour / 5 to 6 day cross-Canada roadie with a 6-month old this summer. Would you do it? Any tips from those that have done big roadies with a baby before?
My wife and I have a four-month old and live in Western Canada while the rest of our family is in the East. We're desperate to get our little one home to see her family over the summer and, while the provinces we and our family live in are opening up, we're still somewhat hesitant to fly and feel it may not be fair to put our families at greater risk by us interacting with others on a flight.
We're contemplating a ~33 hour drive over the course of 5 (maybe 6) days while camping out along the way, followed by a 4-week stay with family, then the return drive this summer (by which time our baby will be 6 months old). We would plan for an average of 6 - 7 hours drive time each day, likely with breaks every 2 hours max for the little one. My wife and I are serious road warriors and we've done multiple trips longer than this as well as tons of camping, so we're not concerned in the slightest about a big drive ourselves... but I'm sure it's a very different story with a baby (although she did amazing with her first 2 hour drive and night in a tent last weekend).
Would you do it? Anyone that has done a seriously long roadie with a baby have any solid tips?
