Rescheduling our road trip to 2021
So we had this great road trip planned for June, heading through western New York, Columbus, up to Mount Rushmore area, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, down to Arches, Monument Valley, Meteor Crater. Mesa Verde, Rocky Mountain NP, Omaha and then back home to Massachusetts. It was all driven by a convention in Denver over July 4.
The convention’s canceled, our Yellowstone reservations got canceled, and we’ve canceled the trip.
We want to do much of it next year, but we’re no longer tied to the July 4 weekend in Denver (and in fact, July 4 will be elsewhere).
So which six weeks should we go? Earlier means fewer crowds at Yellowstone, but more risk of snowy weather. July or August means high heat in the Arizona part of the trip. (Though with the Navajo Nation being hard hit, maybe we should skip that part.) We’re somewhat flexible over which sites we see and how long, with Yellowstone and Monument Valley being the main draws. Our only real constraint is after April 15 and we have to be elsewhere for the Fourth of July.
