Request for music, books, or especially poetry about places between Seattle and D.C.
Hi Everyone,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I have the opportunity to go across the country with my Dad and pick up my Mom and drive her back to the east coast. We are going to be passing through a great many places between Seattle and D.C. and we have the fortunate opportunity to use this time to meander around the areas between.
I recognize this is something special and I'd really like to pick some great spots, and set the right mood for each place we pass through, to make this as special as possible. I'm a pretty young person but not so young that I might have a chance to do something like this with my parents again and it would be great to be able to make this as special as possible. My question is really for advice about locations to see within a reasonable distance of a straight shot between these two places, and something to listen to, that delves into the majesty of the specific local, not to be pompous or something but there has been some great writing that has come from vistas across the U.S. that articulates the beauty of it.
For example I love the poetry of Jim Harrison but that's generally around the southwest, but if you can think of something in that vein for the path we'll travel, or about a particular place, or anything like that I'd really appreciate it. Sorry for my sloppy writing, and I hope the question isn't too ambiguous. I just want to do something to prepare for this and appreciate it, and this is all I can think to do.
Thanks in advance!
