Mum and son socially distant trip NY to Vegas and back tips and thoughts welcomed
Given the covid situation I’m mulling driving the Jeep Wrangler with tents and my 14 year old son to Vegas and back in August. We would ideally stay in national park campsites and be largely self sufficient and isolated other than stops for gas and food. I intend to cook on my camp stove.
Thinking to take the south route on the way over and the north route the way back, and spend a week working remotely from a hotel in Vegas to build energy for the drive back.
I’m a single mom and have done masses of trips alone and just with my son, camping, mountains, van trips etc but there’s a part of me that thinks the there and back is too much? I don’t want to fly to Vegas and additionally don’t want to hire a van or car as I’m keen to keep free of risk to us, and reduce risk from us to others. Most of me thinks it’s a once in a lifetime chance to do this as due to remote working I can be away for 3 weeks and probably this won’t happen again. My son is up for it. We have everything we need to do it but I just wanted to sound it out with road trip enthusiasts.
