Hi everyone! I'll be driving cross-country with my mom in about two weeks. We've done it twice before when I moved from UT->DC and GA->CA but both those times we didn't make it a "trip" and it was just a long, bot very scenic drive. I want to change that this time! So far, I know I want to stop at the Grand Canyon and Nashville, but other than that I don't know what to do!

One major concern I have is ensuring we only stop/stay in safe areas as we're two women and will have pretty much everything I own stuffed into my car. I know there are quite a few areas in the US that are warned against (Gary, IN comes to mind), so I was hoping you guys could give me some tips and point out any sites we might want to stop at/avoid completely

Also, trying to keep it around 3-4 days tops.
