I have to drive from New Haven, CT to Chicago, IL on Thursday with my dog. COVID-19 Tips?
I lost my job and can't afford to stay here anymore so I am moving to Chicago to stay with family because it's either that or continue to be homeless in my car with my dog sleeping in parking lots. It's a long drive (13-14hrs) which will probably take longer because I have my dog with me so I'll need to stop a bit more than I would if I were alone.
I know Chicago is a hot spot so I plan to not stop for gas or anything when I get close, just straight through to my family member's home.
Any tips for the road trip? Is everything closed? I was thinking of buying a case of water and only eating food I purchase so I don't have to go inside anywhere. Most of the East Coast is one a shutdown order so I am a bit worried about not being able to find rest stops if needed.
Would it be better to do it straight through or stop and sleep in the car overnight? I don't trust motels right now to be clean enough. Any tips for long-haul travel with dogs
