First hitchhiking roadtrip - Need tips!
Hello y'all!
I have some time on hand this summer and a small budget. So I was thinking on attempting a super-low-budget roadtrip through Southern Europe this summer. You know - hitchhiking, public transport, AirBnB, couchsurfing, hostel, etc.
I have been thinking about this for a few years, but never found any travel buddy (still working on finding one this time, too). So I always ended up not doing it. However, I am quite determined this year.
Hence I'm asking you all for some tips and tricks.
What's the best way to attempt such a roadtrip in Europe with a small to almost non existent budget?
--- My route idea ---
I am from Western Germany (somewhat near Dusseldorf) and my idea is to make my way down to Southern France with the first stop on the Côte d'Azur, then head East to Italy with another stop around Genoa.
From there I'd want to head further East with maybe another stop around Venice area. If I'd still have time and budget left by then, I'd love to go even further East and try to make it all the way to Croatia's beautiful coast as final stop.
By then I will most likely have run out of my regular budget, so I'd probably just take a train or coach back home with my "emergency-get-home-money".
--- Further Questions (I'll keep adding to this section) ---
- What is a good, cheap way to feed myself?
- What's the best and yet cheap & flexible way of "accommodation"? I don't mind spending some nights in a tent as a worst-case-scenario, but I wouldn't really want to spend the majority of the trip in a tent.
