USA West Coast camping or motels
Hey guys.
My girlfriend and I are going on a West Coast road trip in april 2020. My main question is, we’ve been looking at lodging online and prices seem kinda steep and I wasn’t necessarily expecting that in the out of the way places.
So I assume just winging it and turning up at a motel along the way and get a room then and there will be cheaper than booking accomodation beforehand? Am i correct in thinking this?
Another option would be to rent some kind of campervan and do the roadtrip while camping almost all the time except for big cities. Does south west USA have free camping? And if its not free would this be a cheaper option in general than motels/hotels. Also calculating in a minor price difference between renting a car and renting a camper van.
We travelled around Australia for the bigger part of 2018 and there camping was way cheaper but they also had plenty of free camping.
If you guys have any other tips for West Coast road trip they are also more than welcome.
Thx
Bram, Belgium
