Dec 27 - Jan 3 Road Trip from Philly Ideas Requested
Morning all,
My wife and I want to take a road trip from Philly this Christmas, however as we're new to the States we have no idea what we should check out.
My initial idea was to head up to Lake Placid and back, stopping a few places along the way. Then we thought we'd tack on Montreal as well as we're close enough. I had reservations about the snow, however, as we have no experience driving in those conditions, so my first question is would snow/ice be a concern for us doing Upstate NY?
Second idea was to take a trip down South West of Philly. My wife suggested Nashville, so we were thinking there and back, obviously seeing places along the way. I was looking at Smokey Mountains and Cherokee as they look kinda nice - I was after mountainy stuff, things that would be unique for us (we're Australian), like mountains, cabins on the lake etc. Is this road trip worthwhile compared to the one above?
And any other suggestions are most welcome, I'm very lost for what to see! Thanks.
