NY Foliage Roadtrip
I had been wanting to do this road trip since I was a yee lad. I flew into NY and had an at-opening lox bagel at Russ & Daughters. You step from the street into a-whole-nother-world, a swanky diner vibe. And the best lox bagel awaits. Then after visited the WT memorial. I have to say the memorial grabs you unexpectedly, it's an emotional place to stand.
From there I drove north to see the classic fall foliage as far as West Canada Lake Wilderness area. I was a bit early for the full explosion of color but none the less a great drive, late Oct-Nov is best. I stayed at a quaint rustic inn on the lake and dinner with the locals at the tavern. A steak of course.
Next morning I headed out for a long drive to Buffalo. This was actually my favorite part of the drive. It was an early, cool and rainy morning, warm coffee in the holder, driving down through homie little towns in the fall foliage. But lastly the finale. Arriving for my helicopter view of Niagara Falls before flying out in the morning. Was a solid itinerary.
Pro Tip: Phone signal can get bad so have your route understood and mapped.
