Eastern Europe Road Trip Advice
Hey guys!
My boyfriend (21) and I (20) are planning to travel internationally sometime in May 2020. I have a lot of travel experience in Western/Central Europe, so I am looking to explore the east this time around. My previous trips have been with my dad, who has way more travel experience than me and is comfortable driving with the foreign signs and unfamiliar rules.
While he is completely supportive of me traveling alone, he is worried about the driving aspect. I am not the biggest fan of cities, so I love to get lost driving between destinations and finding underrated hikes. His concern is that I will have trouble reading road signs and might come across the “fake” police trying to scam me (I know this is a stereotype, but I just want to be safe!).
Do you guys have any experience driving in Eastern European countries or have recommendations? For example, I am considering visiting the Baltics, Romania/Bulgaria, or Croatia/Bosnia. While I personally am not too concerned about the driving as long as I research beforehand, it would be nice for my first international road trip to be on the safer side. Are there any countries that would be a good first step towards more experienced roadtripping?
