Western US Road Trip (~2 weeks, 13 states)
Brand new to posting in Reddit, but I’m a longtime browser!
I’m planning a 2-week road trip with a buddy for next summer and would love any input/ideas for someone that has never been west of Wichita. We’re planning on driving Historic Route 66 from Oklahoma City to about Flagstaff and the Beartooth Highway through MT and WY.
Here is the itinerary as it stands:
Day 1: Kansas to Oklahoma City to Amarillo
Day 2: Amarillo to Flagstaff
Day 3: Flagstaff to Grand Canyon to Las Vegas
Day 4: Las Vegas to Sacramento (through Yosemite and El Dorado Forest)
Day 5: Sacramento to Portland
Day 6: Portland to Seattle (through Astoria and Olympia)
Day 7-8: Seattle
Day 9: Seattle to Billings
Day 10: Billings to Salt Lake City (through Beartooth Highway, Yellowstone, and Idaho Falls)
Day 11: Salt Lake City to Denver
Day 12: Denver
Day 13: Denver to Wichita
Any great patches of driving that I should be thinking about in addition to Route 66 and Beartooth?
Thanks for any ideas/suggestions!
