For someone with depression/anxiety/fear of flying, is it a good idea for your first solo trip to be within your country or should you go abroad?

Ok so I'm 28, never been on a solo trip and finally decided to take care of my mental health last year. Took a year off from work last August and I'm about to start my new job in mid september.I didn't travel anywhere for a year and now I finally want to with a few days left before I start work again. I just want to feel alive again!Problem is, I have a huge fear of flying. There are moments where I'm like fuck it let's just book a flight and these moments last for a few hours before I start getting nervous again. This time though, I'm determined to overcome this fear and enjoy a trip overseas! I've mostly been focused on looking at all inclusive vacation tour packages where you get an english speaking guide for a few days to show you around. So far I've looked at Emirates Airlines vacations for a trip to Jordan costing me close to CAD 4,000 for a 9day trip. I know it's expensive but flying with Emirates just makes me feel safer and helps me with my phobia and I don't mind spending a bit. I'm looking at airline packages because websites like expedia or third party agents don't offer "tour packages with guides". I just want everything to be organized and go smoothly so I can be at ease.I've also looked at Air Canada vacations. All inclusive tours to Barcelona or Rome with a guide will again be CAD 3500 to 4000. (Reason i went for air canada rome/barca package is because it'll be a direct flight so I'll only have to sit through 2 take offs during my entire trip lol and that makes me feel more relaxed). The other option I have to maybe take it slow since its my first solo trip ever and maybe just take a bus or train to new york from Toronto and spend a week there. That thought makes me feel alright but not as alive as thinking about going to barcelona rome or Jordan.Any suggestions would be helpful! Am i overthinking this. Am I being ripped off by the pricing? Does anyone know a better airlines or third party website to find good tour packages with a guide? via /r/solotravel https://ift.tt/2z0DLC0
