What cultural thing did you experience in another country that you wish could be experienced more in your own?
I’m an American who is flying back home today after spending a few months in SEA. I feel like I’ve fallen in love with the people in Laos. Everywhere I go, I just stumble upon this communal feeling of togetherness. Families seem tighter here. Kids are actually playing outside a lot. People live in the moment and aren’t concerned with superficial things like celebrities and social media. Maybe I’m being overdramatic, but it just seems like many of us in the west have lost touch with this. It just FEELS better. I don’t know how to explain it. Has anybody else experienced this kind of thing before?PS I’m not trying to start any arguments about what culture is “better.” Obviously the west is a great place to live for many reasons.
