Taking a major plunge
Hi r/solotravelTomorrow morning I will set off on my first real solo adventure - and not a small one either. I am flying from London to Tokyo and will spend more than 2 weeks around Japan, flying back home from Osaka. I will have a connecting flight in both directions in Amsterdam.This is a major leap for me, because I am quite a shy person and I have never travelled without someone to keep me company. On top of this, I have never been anywhere east of Greece, and have never needed to catch a connecting flight. To take on this long travel day arriving in Japan where I do not speak even a little of the local language is a bit daunting. I have travelled a lot in Europe as part of a group and I have become confident there, but Asia is a different world to me.I will be staying in hostels and Ryokans all over Japan. I have stayed in hostels before and I have met some nice people who I made a friendship with, but I met these people when I was already with my friend. Now it's even more important to be able to make the same connections with strangers without someone I already know well by my side.I decided to travel Japan solo to help me branch out, and also just that I will be able to do what I want and when I want. I have planned out a rough Itinerary and I am really looking forward to my trip, I just hope I don't regret not taking anyone with me to share it with via /r/solotravel https://ift.tt/2NJrZX5
