Puerto Rico vs Yucatan, Mexico?

Hi everyone!I'm planning a trip in mid-July for a week to either Puerto Rico or the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico (Tulum, Playa del Carmen, and surrounding towns). I'm an early-30s guy traveling solo. Each spot appeals to me in different ways:Yucatan, Mexico:Cenotes, ruins, beachesMexican food!Lots of solo travellers, great to meet peopleTulum's bohemian relaxed vibeHowever, big sargassum/seaweed problem washing up on shores is ruining the beachesPuerto Rico:Hiking, rainforests, beaches, more of an authentic local culture vibeBeaches are free of sargassumLess of a backpackers' destination? Less opportunity to meet other solo travelers? For those of you who've been to both or either: What are your thoughts on each, and which would you recommend? Thanks!! via /r/solotravel https://ift.tt/308QmOX
