Is it possible to cheaply travel solo while in school?

Hello!I am 18 and will soon be starting college (entirely online, at my own pace through WGU). I live rural, so there aren't many job opportunities. Currently, I work a part-time, seasonal job as a waitress and will probably have ~8k+ saved by fall. I want to give myself time to get used to a school schedule, and wouldn't consider moving/traveling until the weather improves. My only constant expense is my phone bill, as tuition for school is covered. My question: is it possible to travel in my case? I would feel most comfortable working part-time, as college will be my biggest priority. Whether that is freelancing, doing farm work, hostels, au pair, etc., I am ultimately open to everything. If I traveled strictly in the Americas, would this financially support me? How about for travels overseas? Just to clarify, both of these scenarios would most likely be full-time.Finally, considering my schooling is online, is it even plausible to be able to do it on the road or overseas? I would need both internet and phone service, and ~24+ hrs/week. The more hours I put into it, the less time my degree will take. Other than that, I feel like travel would be an immensely positive experience for my degree. I am going into business management (with hopes of starting my own business), so seeing the world from a different viewpoint could act as inspiration. This isn't even considering the benefits and experiences I will gain as a person!I have always loved different cultures, nature, and the idea of traveling. Now that I am old enough, I am having a hard time deciding the "when" factor. I would love any input or suggestions. Thank you! via /r/solotravel https://ift.tt/2NTIm3b
