Interstate inspections
I am traveling from PA to South Carolina at the end of July/beginning of August (not sure which day yet) and will be traveling with my pet ferret. We are going through Delaware, Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
PA does not require vaccinations for ferrets, while some of the states do. I am looking for information on traveling with a pet through these states. PA and SC seem to have the same laws, and we will only be there for two weeks so I’m not too concerned about someone finding out. I have never driven through any of these states and was wondering if there were any chances of our car being searched at interstate borders. I’m concerned because ferrets can have a bad reaction to the vaccines required (rabies and distemper) and do not want to risk giving our baby a vaccine and that happening. Does anyone know if cars/pets are inspected between any of these states, and if paperwork from our vet simply saying she is healthy would be good enough since we are going from 2 states that don’t require the vaccines?
Thank you for any help!
