Looking for ideas or recommendations for a roadtrip I have planned, starting next week. A mix of camping and either AirBnB or hotels is what we are looking for. Maybe 60-70% camping.

We will be driving in from Texas and driving straight to a campsite we have reserved near Great Sand Dunes. Staying there Saturday and Sunday nights. Exploring the area on Sunday. Leaving Monday morning and we need to be at Red Rocks for a show on Monday. We have a camp site reserved at Chief Hosa near Red Rocks for that night.

From Tuesday to Saturday we are trying to figure out the best places. We are looking to get up into the mountains. Light to medium hiking. Probably mostly camping near the car, not any serious backpacking in with all gear. We’d like to see some amazing nature, some wildlife would be great, few people (I know that is a far shot). And AVAILABLE camping. Lots of places are booked.

I’d like to do a little fishing a couple days (nothing too serious).

Any recommendations on MUST SEE areas?

Where would you go?

We need to head back to Texas on Sunday and will drive straight through.

Thanks for any and all recommendations. (Yes, I have searched other Reddit posts in the archives, just looking for more recommendations and maybe current info.)
