Best phone apps in remote locations?
Hey guys so I’m taking a road trip from Los Angeles to New Mexico (cosmic campground, Cloudcroft, Santa Fe, Chaco culture, and Greer if you have any recommendations at those places). Anyway I will be staying in some relatively remote campgrounds where there’s a good chance I won’t have cell service or internet. Now this normally wouldn’t be an issue but my dad tends to freak out when he can’t get ahold of me for even a night when he knows I am traveling (when I’m not traveling we maybe not speak for a week or more). He raised me and my brother by himself so that’s a reason he worries sometimes. I told him I won’t have service to text or Facebook message him and says that’s fine but I know he will still be freaking out when the time comes and he hasn’t heard from me.
Is there any apps or service I can use where I can basically just send SOME sort of alert that lets him know I’m ok and alive? He has a galaxy and I have an iPhone. I was thinking maybe the find my friends app or find my iPhone could be an option but I don’t even know if that will show up if I don’t have internet service or if he needs an iPhone for that to work. I have used WhatsApp, Facebook message, etc when I don’t have cell service but these wouldn’t work without any internet or 3g converge. I have Verizon by the way.
Any ideas would help a lot
