Traveling to Europe
Hello everyone,
I'm an 18 year old guy. I'll be traveling to Milan in June and I'll be in Europe for 3 weeks (20 days). This is my first time traveling alone so I had a few questions, please help me out.
I haven't quite fixed my travel itinerary but it looks like this:
Week 1: Milan, Rome, Naples, Turin (not in order). Week 2: Amsterdam/Netherlands Week 3: Switzerland (Lausanne) and Prague
Accommodation: I'm looking to stay in hostels and AirBnb's I know it's quite hectic and rushed so feel free to drop any suggestions you might have.
I had the following questions.
- Is Europe safe for an 18 year old guy traveling alone?
- How exactly does the hostel system work? I found a site called hostelling international which sells memberships for booking hostels. Is this an advisable option? If not, what alternatives do I have?
- Traveling between cities: I was thinking of getting an eurail global pass to make traveling via trains easier in Europe. Is this the best option to travel within Europe or do suitable alternatives exist?
- I noticed that train companies also sell passes individually (apart from eurail). Is this a better option than buying an eurail pass?
- Considering I'm traveling alone, what's the best way for me to meet people?
- Finally around how much would you estimate daily expenses would be including food, sightseeing, traveling etc?
Thank you!
