I am currently planning my first solo trip to SF for early Sept 2019.

Mid 20's male here from NYC; I am a software engineer.

I have only ever traveled with others; additionally only in hotels.

I understand that staying in a Hostel will allow me to easily meet other young travelers, is this particularly true for SF? I am willing to step out of my comfort zone in a Hostel if this is the case..

Additionally what ( / where) are the best ways to meet other travelers / friendly locals?

I do have a lot of fun hanging out with myself, I am not desperate to meet other people though, I think it would enhance the trip (especially in the bar scene)
