One-Week Croatia Itinerary for Summer (and a few questions)
I (31/f) am travelling around Europe solo in June/July 2019, which is peak tourist season (London, Stockholm, Prague, Budapest, Novi Sad, Belgrade, Sarajevo, Mostar, Bay of Kotor, Croatia, Paris). I'm not super into partying - more so into soaking up some sun, seeing cultural and natural sights in the city or countryside, perhaps some scuba/snorkeling, and trying some tasty local food. I plan to spend one week in Croatia, as follows:
- Day 1 - Kotor/Dubrovnik
- Day 2 - Dubrovnik
- Day 3 - Dubrovnik/Hvar
- Day 4 - Hvar
- Day 5 - Hvar/Split
- Day 6 - Split?
- Day 7 - Krka Waterfalls (daytrip)?
- Day 8 - Split?/Paris
Most of my itinerary is finalized (including accommodation/transport), other than the last three days. I was leaning towards staying in Split for this time before flying to Paris mid-afternoon the last day. The following activities in and around Split were recommended to me and are on my "definitely do" list:
- Check out the view from the hill at Marjan Forest Park
- Daytrip to Krka Falls
- Diocletian's Palace
A few questions:
- Should I take a day trip to Krka Waterfalls only? Or also to Plitvice National Park? (Recall it will be peak tourist season when I am there - late June/early July). I'm from Canada so we do have a lot of natural landscapes, so I'm wondering whether it will be worth my limited time seeing both.
- When going to Krka Falls, what's the best way to get there? Should I consider booking a tour/bus in advance, or will it be easy to do so when I arrive?
- Riva Harbour/day trip to Omis or Trojir/walking tour/Bacvice Beach/St. Duje Cathedral/Mestrovic Gallery/TIF Kolektiv Art Shop were all suggested to me... can anyone comment on which are worthwhile?
- Is it worth considering a different day trip to one of the following islands? Brac, Biševo, Vis, Ravnik, Budikovac
- Any cool graffiti hotspots in Split? (I like graffiti and street art, especially social/political commentary type stuff)
