Looking for Road Trip Loop ideas starting from Fargo, ND

I'm itching to take a road trip with my brother, this summer, and I'm thinking a loop would be a great idea. I have family down in Loveland, CO and would like part of the loop to go through that area. Ideally, I want to camp rather than book hotels. I'm very much partial to mountains, forests, and rivers.

I'm thinking a loop down through SD, into CO, maybe into Utah, Wyoming, Montana, etc. Perhaps reverse the order and come back through Wisconsin (visit my other brother) and Duluth. Any ideas on places to camp, visit, and sightsee? I've been to Mt Rushmore multiple times, and I don't like crowds, so big tourist areas are to mostly be avoided.

Sorry, I'm in the very initial stages of planning things.
