Living in Washington, D.C. and looking for weekend trip ideas
I’m a 20F and I have an internship in D. C. this summer from May 28th - August 2nd. I’m going to spend most of my time exploring D. C., but since I’ll be on the East Coast all summer (I’m from Texas), I want to spend a few weekends traveling around.
Because my internship is 40 hours a week, I won’t be able to start traveling til after 5pm on Friday and will have to be back by Sunday evening. I’ll be using public transportation. Unfortunately, the D. C. metro system will be shut down for maintenance south of the Regan airport, so I would have to do a ride share to go south. I’m not against it, but I can see it getting expensive.
I love going to museums, and history interests me a lot, but I feel like most cities on the east coast check both of those boxes. Budget isn’t a huge issue for me (within reason).
I’ve been to New York City before and I’m not interested in going this summer. NYC is the only east coast city I’ve been to.
What suggestions do y’all have for cities to visit? This is my first post, so please let me know if I need to give any more detail. Thank you!
