July: Portland - Crater Lake - Lassen - Redwoods - Oregon Coast - Portland
Here's my crazy driving vacation idea. Is this too much driving? Trying to keep to 5 hrs/day, or less.
Seeing Crater Lake, and Lassen, and Redwoods, and Oregon Coast
My 18 y.o. son & I will be doing this.
Fly in Sat 6/29 - Portland, pick up Escape Campervan 1 pm
Escape Campervan Maverick ( https://www.escapecampervans.com/campervans/mavericks/ )
Drive via the Dalles to Warm Springs (3 hr) / Bend (4 hr) (sleep in van)
Sun 6/30 - Bend to Crater Lake (1.5 hr) (sleep in van)
Mon 7/1 - Crater Lake - Lassen Volcanic (4 hr) - Redding (another 1 hr) (sleep in van)
Tues 7/2 - Redding to Eureka* (3 hr) - Garberville (1 hr) : Redwoods
(riding in van, but no longer sleeping in van - hotels from now on as wife & daughter join us)
Wed 7/3 - Garberville to Bandon (5 hr) (more driving today so less tomorrow, but 101 probably crowded, may take longer)
Thur 7/4 - Bandon - Newport (2.5 hr) (will take longer driving on 101 on holiday)
Fri 7/5 - Newport - Seaside (3 hr)
Sat 7/6 - Seaside - Astoria - Portland (2.5 hrs)
Sun 7/7 - turn in car, fly out of Portland
My 20 y.o. daughter and wife will be doing this
Sat 6/29 fly into San Francisco
7/1 - SF to Mendicino (3.5 hours)
7/2 - Mendicino - Eureka* (to meet group above noon on Tuesday)
(then continue as above)
Any tips from any Oregon / Northern California travelers?
