International one year travel trip after college- need some advice
Hello! I am a lurker here in this subreddit but I am interested in taking a one year travel trip. Some background information I do live at home with my parents, but I am planning to save up money for both the trip and to move out afterwards by working during college. I did get a scholarship too for college, so it helps with college expenses. I have four years to save up for the trip, plus a year perhaps if I change my mind. And I do have some sort of plan for after my trip, which will be working and then moving out (any extra from the trip, I will use to move out).
I haven’t traveled internationally before, but I may take one trip before to get a feeling for it. I’m not sure how much money I need estimated but I tend to not spend much (really only do stuff like expensive attractions once). But I have seen estimates from $6,000 to $17,000 (but ofc those are from other people’s experience).
The reason too that I’d like to do the trip is that I’d like to see much of the world before I settle down a bit in my 30s (as I like to do most of my bucket list while I’m younger). Also I like experiences better, so I’d feel it would be a great life changing thing to do. I need help sorting this all out into a word document, alongside knowing how much to save.
I’d like to travel to the following places: (note I’ll just choose a few places from the list, just some ideas below). -Europe, plus Russia and Turkey -Southeast Asia plus Indonesia (I am Vietnamese, so I can have the chance to go to Vietnam too!)
-maybe North Africa/parts of subsaharan Africa
-maybe South America (not sure where)
I’m sorry my thoughts aren’t too organized. But any advice would be good. And delete if it doesn’t meet the community guidelines.
