I have ~6-7 hours to kill in Paris. What should I do?
I'm doing my first solo trip this summer to Europe. I'm flying over from North America and landing in Paris at 11:40am on a Friday. I booked to fly into Paris because it was by far the cheapest place to fly into, but I'm not staying there - I wanted to transfer onward immediately to Amsterdam by train. The problem was that all the trains in the afternoon were insanely expensive, so I ended up booking the last one out that leaves around 8:20pm from Charles-De-Gaulle.
So assuming I land at 11:40am, customs take between 1-2 hours, I have around 6-7 hours before I have to be back at the airport to catch my train.
What can I do in those 6 hours? How long does it take to metro into downtown Paris from the airport? Obviously I'm going to be jet-lagged, exhausted, and lugging a big ass backpack around so I'm not expecting myself to run around the entire city for hours to see as much as I can. I'm young and I'm pretty sure I'll return to Paris at some point in my life for a real visit so I'm not thirsting to see every single tourist destination. So for those of you who know Paris pretty well, what is one neighbourhood/area/spectacle/restaurant you would recommend for me to venture out to?
