How old is to old?
Very general question, but am very curious what others think: How old is to old to travel?
The reason for this is because I get a lot of backlash from my family for still wanting to travel. I just turned 30 so in peoples eyes am hitting the older side of a traveler. Most travelers I meet are university graduates and I guess people associate backpacking and traveling with younger people. I did used to have a lot of support from my family to go travelling, but am thinking they thought I would "get it out of my system"
If anything I'm more addicted to it than ever and never ever plan on not traveling as it's the thing I most enjoy. I became a full time international school teacher in order to travel and live abroad. I'm now half considering doing some online teaching while travelling for longer periods, but I know I will get backlash from my family for this. I already know they will say things like "what about settling down, getting a house, what about your pension?"
Due to my family already pressuring me I'm starting to feel like I might be to old to travel and therefore feel guilty when planning trips - should I still be doing this? Why haven't I bought a house yet? What will all those young travelers think of me when they see me walking around with a backpack? etc.
Anyway just curious as to what people think. Do you have similar problems or thoughts? DO you think people should always be able to enjoy traveling and backpacking?
Gotta say it's taking the fun out of traveling a bit!
