Greece on European tour
I’m working to figure out a trip to Europe for 1 to 3 months, and I’ve been researching like crazy. I want to spend a week or so in Greece, and I’d like to begin there. I am looking at getting a Eurail pass, but it seems like that’s not super handy in Greece given I want to spend the rest of my time in more Western Europe, and the trails mostly go through Eastern Europe and around. There’s a ferry from Corfu to Italy that could work, but I’m wondering if it would be more economical to fly into Athens and get single bus or train tickets for Greece, and then fly to Rome and activate my Eurail pass there. I’m also wondering if it’s worth it to fly directly into Athens from the US, or fly to a cheaper city and do a budget flight to Athens.
Obviously, I’ll price out different options, but I wanted to see if anyone had any advice or experience with dipping into Greece on a primarily Western European adventure.
