First time solo, Colombia June 3-12 (27/M/USA)
Going on my first solo trip with the few weeks I have off between med school and my surgical residency and I've planned a trip to Colombia 6/3 - 6/12 with the following itinerary. Just looking for some advice on the itinerary and on getting around within the 2 major cities i'm heading to (Medellin & Cartagena) that is the easiest and has the least chance of me getting ripped off (for reference my spanish sucks).
June 3 - fly into medellin, land around 2pm, check into a hostel
June 4- explore medellin: do a walking tour, check out the memory house museum, cable car, paraglide (maybe?), el poblado general exploration/tours
june 5- same as above
June 6 - check out guatape for the day
June 7 - maybe half day in medellin, then fly to cartagena and just get checked in. probably stay in the old city in a hostel
june 8 - explore cartagena: walled city tour, check out playa blanca for a day, San Fernando de Bocachica tour, el totumo (not sure how this is solo)
june 9 - half day in cartagena (see activities above). In the afternoon take the bus to santa marta and stay there overnight. didn't really plan to spend much time here
June 10 - Head to tayrona national park for the day. Any advice on stuff to do here would be much appreciated. Stay overnight in a hammock)
June 11 - spend the morning in tayrona, then back to santa marta and bus back to cartagena midday / early evening. Stay overnight in cartagena
June 12 - hang out in the morning, back to the USA at 2pm
Obviously any pearls or stuff to see would be much appreciated. Always looking to meet up with people too if anyone is going to be visiting the same places at the same time!
